Top: East Wing (1913) with Queen Victoria's Monument - The home of British monarchs since Queen Victoria's accession (1837). Bought from the Duke of Buckingham by George III, extended by George IV, Victoria, and Edward VII (he commissioned the East Wing to be built - 1913). First lived in by Queen Victoria, her husband Prince Albert and their 9 children. Redesigned by the famous architect John Nash (Trafalgar Square, Marble Arch, St James's Park, Brighton Pavilion, etc.). The palace has been open to visitors since 1993 in the months of August and September to cover some of the costs of repairing the damage to Windsor Castle during the devastating fire there in 1992.
