Tintagel, is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur. An Iron Age castle and settlement preceded the 13th century castle whose ruins can still be seen. Set on a wild and windswept Atlantic headland, Tintagel Castle had been a Celtic stronghold before becoming home to Earl of Cornwall.
