Derry, or Londonderry as the Protestant majority calls it, is the 2nd city of Northern Ireland. There is a Catholic neighbourhood, called the Bogside
which begins with the above shown mural (top left) and the flag of the Republic!!! The two communities live segregated from each other. Each has their own schools, churches, etc, according to their denomination. On Bloody Sunday, 30 January 1972 there was a peaceful demonstration in the Catholic community of Derry against the policy of internment: Terrorist suspects could be arrested without any proof or process, which was an alibi for the Brits to arrest and silence many civil rights activists...
