At two of the narrower parts, near Bristol and Chepstow, the channel is crossed by the Severn Bridge and the Second Severn Crossing carrying, respectively, the M48 and M4 motorways. The two Severn crossings are nowadays generally regarded (at least by people in the south of England and South Wales) as the main crossing points from England into Wales.
