Wales' most popular heritage attraction, this open air museum has over thirty original buildings, set in a 100-acres of parkland. Cottages, farmhouses and workshops have been brought to this site from all parts of Wales to show how ordinary people lived in the past. The life and culture of the Welsh nation - its art and crafts, its language and music - are brought together in this 'living' museum. The Museum of Welsh Life opened on 7 July 1948. Since then, it has established itself as one of Europe's foremost open air museums (It's like the Skanzen in Szentendre). The buildings include a school, a chapel and a splendid Workmen's Institute as well as several workshops where craftsmen, such as the blacksmith and the cooper, demonstrate their skills to the public. Their produce is usually on sale.

The hand crafted wooden lovespoons (bottom right) are the most common Welsh souvenirs. Originally they were carved by men in love for the women they wanted to marry. There is intricate symbolism involved in the designs of the handle. (They are very expensive!!!)
