The second biggest city of Wales, Swansea suffered a lot of damage in the Second World War. On the left: The surviving part of Swansea Castle next to a modern high-rise office building. The Dylan Thomas Centre (bottom right) is now the main focal point for a celebration of Dylan Thomas, Swansea’s world famous poet.The Dylan Thomas Centre was refurbished in 1995 to host the British Year of Literature. This splendid building has a permanent exhibition on Dylan Thomas and his life, as well as a shop stuffed with books, posters and memorabilia. Top right: Swansea barrage.
